Lately, the City of Tombstone hasn't been able to get its priorities in order.
Just the other day, a good friend of Tombstone Online, Mike Carrafa - owner of
Six Gun City - was arrested for something that the current administration of Tombstone
has blown WAY out of proportion.
It seems to us, that this is nothing more than a political tactic used to try
and eliminate unwanted competition in Tombstone. Perhaps it's only a personal
vendetta against our friend. Whatever the reason, Tombstone seems destined to
keep shooting itself in the foot.
For a town that relies solely on tourism, it seems odd that the City would
deliberately go out of its way to shut down a business that delivers exactly what
the tourists are after; gunfights, food, and fun!
The City tries to justify itself by saying it's following newly changed ordinances
and such, but once you read the articles and see the news report, I think every reasonable
person reading this will concede that the issue has been escalated beyond where it needs
to be.
Mike Carrafa and Six Gun City have done nothing but try to make their business better, and
ultimately, make the visitors' experiences better. Mike followed the rules and when the rules
changed, he tried to comply; asking only for more time and clarification. How was he paid back;
by being arrested and fined. Now, the City wants to take his business away from him. You'd
think that in these troubling economic time, the City would be encouraging business expansion, right?
